The Big Apple gets Bigger!
You may not be surprised to learn this, but New York City is one of our biggest markets! Our original NYC girl Maria has decided to grow her team and add a partner in her market!
Meet the newest New York NEAT Girl: Corrin McCoy!
We took some time to chat with Corrin so we could all get to know why she's a perfect fit for NEAT NYC!
NM :: Hi Corrin, welcome to the team! Tell us why you wanted to join Maria and help run NEAT NYC.
CM :: I've been Maria's Lead Organizer for the last year and a half and honestly, from day one we were finishing each other's sentences. With New York City being such a huge market, we thought it only made sense to join forces and tackle it together. Our clients, like our city, are very fast-paced and with both of us working together, we are able to bring more to them, and quicker!
NM :: What did you do before you ran NEAT?
CM :: Before NEAT, I handled day-to-day operations at a 15,000 square foot event venue in the city. It operated as a commercial photo studio as well as a corporate event venue, so we ere constantly flipping the setup between studio-ready and event-ready. This required us to be super organized and involved in a LOT of planning – which I loved – and that was when my passion for organizing really became clear!
NM :: Speaking of organized, can you give us a peek into your most organized space? We'd love to see it.
CM :: I'm pretty obsessed with my son's room and definitely think I have his toy organization on lock. He is so good about keeping his toys organized, too… which makes my heat very happy. He recently found a pretend strawberry in his trains, he thought it was hysterical and then ran to put it away in his play kitchen. THAT was a #proudNEATmom moment.
NM :: Oh my goodness, how adorable! What about your least organized space? You must have ONE, right?
CM :: My office area in my apartment is non-existant. When I had an office job, I just kept anything paper/office-related there, so since I now work from home, that's one area that needs to be handled. At the moment, my husband and I each have one large box with everything in it, but it's not oragnized and I dread if I ever need to open it. I'm currently working on setting up a home office area in my bedroom or dining area.
NM :: We can't wait to see what you create! What can people expect when they hire you to organize their home?
CM :: I like to take into account how people are using their space currently and identify reasons for the current setup. I'm very practical in the systems I implement and learn about the client so I can insure that the new system is something they can keep up with.
NM :: That's so necessary, especially in New York! How long have you lived in the city?
CM :: I have lived here for 7 years. I have moved 6 times and have lived in 3 of the 5 boroughs. Just this year, my family and I made the move to New Jersey for more space and I'm hoping we can stay put for at least 2 years! I'm very jealous of people that have lived in the same apartment for 3+ years in the city.
NM :: What makes NYC unique?
CM :: NYC is huge and the spaces are small – as simple as that. We have the potential to help SO many homes get organized – which is so exciting. Also, I think while organizing might be seen as a luxury in other parts of the country, it's almost a necessity in this city because storage space is so limited. Every inch of a Manhattan closet is "valuable real estate" so you typically can't put something in the back of a closet and deal with it later. It's important for us to help our clients declutter and make sure they are only keeping the things they truly need and are using.
NM :: That's so important! What do you think will be your favorite part of running NEAT?
CM :: Mostly, I love our clientele! Everybody is so focused on wellness right now and that's a part of organizing that isn't typically thought of first. Most of the time, we are hired becasue in addition to tidying up their spaces, people are ready to purge and helping them declutter is so fun. They feel so much better afterwards and are so appreciative. I love being able to take something that comes so naturally to me and help others!
NM :: What is your favorite product to use while organizing?
CM :: Of course I love all the Linus Clear Bins. I also really love the YouCopia Spiceliners. My clients often have a lot of supplements that they generally like to keep closer to the kitchen. I like to dedicate a drawer for them and lay them down on the spice liners in alphabetical order so they can easily find what they are looking for.
NM :: Besides organizing do you have any hidden talents?
CM :: I'm really good at pogo-sticking. And it wouldn't be such a "hidden" talent if I still owned one!
NM :: How fun! Anything else we should know?
CM :: I'm excited for my new role with NEAT Method and I look forward to seeing what amazing homes I will be working in next!
NM :: We can't wait to see either!
We are thrilled to add Corrin to the NEAT team! We are excited to see what she and Maria will do together to tackle disorganization in the Big Apple. Get ready NYC!
