Behind Closed Doors :: Kitchen
You all seemed to love the post on co-founder Ashley’s renovation that we wanted to take a deeper dive! In collaboration with Snowe we wanted to show you behind the scenes – or rather behind closed doors. Ashley is here with some tips and insight into how she organized her beautiful new kitchen!
Since I co-founded NEAT 10 years ago, I’ve seen my fair share of kitchens – but there’s something so satisfying about planning and organizing my own kitchen from the ground up.
Here are a few tips I kept in mind while creating my dream kitchen.
Play Zone Defense
Think in terms of zones and create spaces for the different ways you use the kitchen. Some zones I focused on in my kitchen were:
Morning – coffee machine, coffee mugs, breakfast go-to items.
Dinner – everyday plates, cups & flatware
Happy Hour – wine glasses, rocks glasses, cheese plates.
Celebration – specialty items, platters, serving bowls.
Spice up your Life!
Decanting your spices into matching jars is a simple way to add a lot of form and function to your space. Once they are all uniform, place them on a spice riser and put them in alphabetical order – you’ll never lose a spice again! Also – while you’re organizing take stock of all the spices you have – chances are you’ve been holding onto ones you never use or ones that are expired! Keep only your essential spices and cooking won’t be such a chore.
Create an “Appliance Garage”
Few things makes us giddier than a completely clear and clutter-free surface. But we get it – you use the coffee machine, blender, slow cooker and toaster so it’s easier to leave them out. Enter – the Appliance Garage! We planned ahead and created an area for the appliances to live (and even be plugged in) behind closed doors. I can’t tell you how great it is to simply use the coffee machine and then close the door.
You can also create a “garage” of your own in a pantry, an upper cabinet or a deep drawer.
At NEAT Method we obviously love things organized, tidy and of course… NEAT. So, when we come across another brand with the same aesthetic and love for minimalism we get excited. Snowe is a luxury home goods company with a mission to provide timless, versatile pieces that you’ll love forever. We can TOTALLY get behind that.
We decided to team up to offer an amazing giveaway package! You can enter to win a personalized virtual consultation and coaching session with NEAT Method (a $250 value), plus a $350 giftcard to Snowe to stock your newly NEAT space. Don’t forget to head to Snowe’s Blog for the Entry form (and a few more tips).
Special thanks to this amazing team for helping me creating the kitchen of my dreams!
