What Time are the Academy Awards?
Are you prepared for this coming Sunday’s Oscars?
Just as Seth MacFarlane promises to tell a few good jokes – the NEAT girls promise to give you a few good ideas we have found to get prepared for the biggest night in movies!
In honor of the big ceremony, we've paired the Nominees for Best Picture with recipes representing each!
First up, Les Miserablees with that adorable blonde Cosette. This amazing musical picture is a top contender this year, with three Golden Globes under their belt. We paired the film adaption of the musical with french macarons. Seems fitting since the movie takes place in France and does have a somewhat sweet ending!
Argo is based around militants storming the United States embassy in Tehran. More than 50 embassy staff are taken as hostages, but six escape and hide in the home of the Canadian ambassador. With the escapees' situation kept secret, they create a cover story that the escapees are Canadian filmmakers. All this movie talk has got us hungry for some popcorn!
Zero Dark Thirty chronicles the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Ladan, so it seems only appropriate to pair with a nice tall glass of a Dark & Stormy Cocktail. All the high intensity stress causes us to need a cocktail or two!
As for Beasts of the Southern Wild, we are going to be honest here: Haven't seen it, annnnd actually haven't even heard of it until writing this blog post. Oops! However, in true southern fashion – a little sweet tea sounds good to us!
On to Philadelphia based, Silver Lining Playbook. Let's just get it out there, Bradley Cooper is still a babe EVEN when he's crazy! What better way to represent the flick than with a Philly Sushi Roll. Get it?! Plus, both BCoop and Philly sushi rolls are delish! 🙂
As for the french movie Amour (another movie we don't know much about…maybe it is because it is all subtitles) is the story of two retired music teachers…which means only one thing, MUSIC NOTE Jello – obviously!
Django Unchained is set in the South just two years before the Civil War. Nothing represents the south quite like a nice warm bowl of Queso Fundido with Chorizo!
And then there is Life of Pi, a 16 year-old boys fantasy adventure with a crazy amount of animals. Animal crackers surely do the trick, look cute, and also bring us back to our younger days!
The presidential movie Lincoln can only be represented with something American, red, white, and blue! Stars & Stripes Cheesecake Shots will impress your friends, are just the prefect size, and yummy! Cheers to Honest Abe!
Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday evening sipping champagne and enjoying some of our delicious reccomendations, all while judging what the stars are wearing!
PS :: The Academy Awards airs this Sunday February 24th on ABC at 7pm ET – and don’t forget to watch Red Carpet coverage on E! starting at 5:30pm ET
