Not So Taxing
As we all know, April 15th can often times be like a trip to the dentist. Not exactly something we like to deal with, but figured we better do so in order to keep our pearly whites or avoid an orange jumpsuit in this case.
We have a few simple pieces of advice to make this annual season not so taxing next year!
Tip #1 :: Knowledge is key. It is hard to be prepared without knowing what Uncle Sam is going to want to see. One of our favorite places to reference is The Container Store's blog to remind our clients what is necessary to keep temporarily, what needs a permanent home, and what can be discarded.
Tip #2 :: Files & a fire safe box are all you need. Use hanging files as your broader categories and manilla folders for subcategories. If you give your papers a destination they are more likely to make it out of your inbox. Use a fire safe box for all your permanent docs so they are locked and protected.
Tip #3 :: Pay special attention to your tax file this year and store all documents you may need to file your 2014 return. That way, at this time next year you will be out enjoying your suprise tax return money!
So good luck with Uncle Sam this year. Oh….and don't forget to make your dentist appointment as well. Cheers to an easy 2014 tax season!
